Description
Due to a late freeze this spring, while our pawpaw trees were in full bloom, we have lost the entire pawpaw crop for the season, as many fruit tree orchards in our area have experienced similar losses. We will have fruit again in 2027.
How to Enjoy Your Pawpaw Fruit
We take great care in selecting and packing your fruit, but some bruising may occur during transit.
Check for Ripeness, The pawpaw should be soft to the touch when gently pressed, and the skin may show some blemishes or color changes. If it’s not yet soft, leave it on the kitchen counter for a day or two until it ripens.
Storage, Pawpaw has a short shelf life, so once it’s ripe, place it in the refrigerator. It should stay fresh for about 3 days when kept cold. If it turns brown, it’s likely overripe and may not taste as good.
Peeling and Eating, Avoid eating the skin, as it can cause allergic reactions in some people. Cut the fruit in half, scoop out the flesh with a spoon, and be mindful of the large seeds inside.
Pawpaw has a unique flavor, often described as a blend of banana, mango, and melon. It’s best enjoyed fresh, either on its own or added to smoothies or ice cream. You can use the pulp in various recipes, but it’s not recommended to bake with it or dehydrate it, as this can cause stomach discomfort for some.
Enjoy your pawpaw!
